The food and the service at Domaine de la Tortiniere was excellent. It is a wonderful spot for families-they have the pool and little toys in the yard and there are lots of places to run around and have fun. As a couple traveling alone was more looking for romance. The location is romantic (but it is close to the highway and there is a little traffic noise if you are very sensitive to that-I am but it wasn't terrible). The rooms are clean and comfy but again, better suited for older people or families...not what I would classify as romantic. Memorable for everything but the room.
Beautiful chateau, with huge grounds, great views over the countryside, and an excellent pool.
Breakfast and dining are both relatively expensive.
We loved the friendly, helpful staff, the welcome drink and easter eggs. The room was beautifully decorated and clean. The gardens were lovely.
Nothing, we were disappointed we did not have more time.
Everything I expected from the website: a very impressive building, delightful grounds, very attentive staff, a comfortable room and an excellent restaurant.
# Restaurant excellent - menu, quality, staff and service. # Hotel staff pleasant and helpful. # Convenient location for exploring the Loire Valley region, close - by car - to Tours, airport, train station, main chateaux etc.
# Limited drinks range in hotel bar. # Lack of atmosphere and facilities meant an evening in the hotel/bar not a realistic alternative to travelling to town (which requires driving) # Lack of full room service facility. # Rooms (in outbuilding), while clean are somewhat tired and in need of overhaul and updating # Insufficient car parking spaces meant footpaths and public areas were full with parked cars.
The Domaine was a beautifully situated chateau with large, comfortable rooms, a great restaurant and very friendly staff who provided great service.
Only quibble is that breakfast was quite overpriced.
Loved the hotel setting, the staff was very friendly and helpful, and the restaurant was amazing.
Lovely building, scenic calming views, feel secluded even though you are not really as it is close to main towns
Gorgeous setting, very tranquil. Loved all the cyclamens in flower up the long drive.
Generally the hotel lacked some attention to detail - eg even on gorgeous sunny days no-one put the mattresses out on the sunbed. On the four days we were there no-one tidied the pool area, or removed the leaves etc from the pool surface. Things I would expect as basic/standard from a hotel like this.
First class in all aspects - staff, food, ambiance, countyside location close to Tours.
The staff were excellent and the setting was beautiful. A good base to explore the Loire Valley.
We stayed in rooms near to the chateau which were a little small.
Perfect location, beautiful nature and surroundings. Very friendly stuff, excellent room with good mixture of traditional design, giving you the feeling that you are in a real castle and modern amenities! Very highly recommended!!!
Fairy tale world with many small flowers;Exquisite castle;Professional services;delicious food.
The staff were very helpful and efficient. The location was quiet and the grounds spectacular with autumn cyclamen. The restaurant was excellent. Room small bur characterful, bathroom very good, excellent bath.
Inabiltiy to walk to other places, major roads nearby. We only had one bath towel for 2 nights despite asking for another.
Nice setting. Comfortable bed
Food in the restaurant was dreadful. The worst meal by far that we have had in France - and more expensive than most too! Really shockingly bad, except for the excellent cheese board.
